Thinking of producing...
« on: November 06, 2004, 10:48:01 am »
Ok, for those of you who produce this thread is for you. I have some great ideas for some remixes and while they are still fresh in my head I'd like to try to get em down.

I've tried FL Studio before and the whole 4 measure box thing confused me until last night when I played around with it more and finally found the more advanced "timeline" of the "Playlist" feature, but its still not exactly what I'm looking for (unless there was some good drum samples or ways to make drums and synths which I'm missing).

In the past I've tried Cakewalk Sonar 4, Project5, and Propellerhead's Reason. I've also tried "Soundtrack" that came with Final Cut Pro. It's not really a program like any of the others, its just loops you use and nothing else, no tweaking, but I assume Logic would be awesome because that other interface was powerful while still easy to use. Unfortunately no demo on Logic.

Just wondering what all you producers out there reccomend for kind of a beginner to the program but a long time musician (used to play piano, electric guitar and drums).

Thanks

-Mark

I've read Logic Express 7 and Cubase are good. I am trying to find a good application too.

Oh forgot Cubase. That came with my SB Augidy 2 Platinum and I never really cared for that interface at all.

Well I've started doing some things in Fruity, I'm just having trouble with two things.

1) Finding a good synth! I figured out how to use the piano roll with the regular keyboard sound and can make a melody but beyond that I can't find good synths really. Anyone know where I could get some?

2) Making a good beat. I can make hardstyle beats and harder type beats but I'm having trouble with prog/trance beats. Maybe thats just my uncreativity, but is there supposed to be more than the few drum samples that it does have?
