A ring tone is a sound that is made by a telephone to indicate the arrival of an incoming call. The term originated from the fact that the earlier phones used to notify the user about the arrival of an incoming call by repeatedly striking a bell, producing a ringing sound. The first commercial mobile ring tones were delivered in Finland in 1998. However, these days, the term is commonly used for the customisable incoming call or message alert sound that can be downloaded on a mobile phone or a telephone.    Newest models of handsets allow users to associate different mobile ring tones with different contacts in their phone book. Websites like Mobilephoria, Dopetone and Phonezoo allow users to customise ring tones according to their choice. These sites also allow one to download a part of a song as ring tone into her or his device. The sites' "Melody Composer" application allows users to create their own musical ring tones. Some of the popular ring tone types are monophonic, polyphonic and true tones. Free Ringtones
