Wheel offset question (problem) help needed
« on: October 09, 2008, 09:28:59 am »
Guys, I have another weird wheel question. I bought a staggered set of 18? wheels from Lakeshore Wheel and tire. Fronts are advertised as 13mm offset. Rears are supposed to be 25mm offset. I got curb rash bad on one of the fronts so I bought a rim from a forum buddy who said he had an 8? 13mm offset. When I get the wheel I immediately notice the lip is much shallower than the “rashed” wheel on car. The wheels have two different manufaturers, but both are aftermarket machined aluminum M-Parallels.Here is the rub…Wheel advertised by LSW&T as 13mm offset is stamped ET+15 Wheel bought from forum member is marked ET 13. Ok, so one should be offset 2mm more than the other, right? Nope! Distance from inner lip of +15 wheel is 10mm farther to hub surface as compared to 13mm wheel. One is 5.375? inner lip to hub (ET15) other is 5.00? inner lip to hub (ET13). Given error of reading the tape the LSW&T would need a 10mm spacer to equal the wheel I just bought. I don’t want the tire to stick out farther as it is perfect now. Only other difference is one wheel is marked 18?8jj and the other is marked 18?8 5jj Can someone explain? First I don’t know why LSW&T advertised as 13mm offset is stamped ET+15, but I really don’t understand why the measured difference is 10mm between the actual wheel rather than just 2mm?? What does the jj vs 5jj mean? Anyone need an 18 x 8? 13mm offset Topline brand wheel?___________________buick blog
