A "firewall bypass" stream?
« on: August 30, 2004, 02:10:27 pm »
Well... i don't know if this will sound stupid, but i've heard a few people that are like: "oh shit, i'm at work/college/etc. and can't listen to the radio, because a firewall here blocks the default streaming ports(8000-8005 and others)". I know there are a lot of people like this, so i think this might help us get a few more users - how about a low quality, small user quantity Firewall channel, that is, streamed wia port 80. Well, maybe not now, since we are still not so big, but later - i think that's a idea we could look forward.

Yes, i know, this costs even more money and "why the f*ck we should care about those individuals ", etc.  It's just an idea worth looking forward and don't forget - that's just my opinion. Your thoughts? Post 'em!
yes.

honestly, i think we should try to do that sometime, except the real issue as you mentioned, is money, if more people donate, we can do it for sure!
money is the #1 issue

actually, for some reason, Party is the only stream I can get through our firewall...

Not sure if you mean Party is the only MKProductions station you can listen to behind the firewall, or not. If so, then probably because it IS using standard internet broadcast ports.

MIXX and The Edge use nonstandard ports.

I think this may be a good idea, but again yep the money is the only thing really holding us back...and not very many people really show interest at this time.

Yes, that is what I meant.  I would probably listen to The Edge at work if I could.  But I understand the money thing...
