Announcements / Party107 version 6 Launched!

It's been a longer journey than we anticipated but we are pleased to announce the launch of our new website, Party107.com version 6! We hope you will enjoy the much improved design, vastly expanded DJ and show information, and additional features including time zone localization, set info, and more.

We will be tweaking things and expanding features over the coming days and weeks. If you have any suggestions for the new site or notice any issues, please let us know in this thread.

Special thanks to DanceNode for the site design and Kaeno for logos and graphics. A big thanks also goes out to orion and Cherie for their code contributions.

Hi all,

Tonight we performed an upgrade and migration of our forums to a new system. We're still working on a few things including the theme, so please bear with us as we finish off a few tweaks.

We also cleaned up a lot of spam accounts that made it through. Any registered user with less than 2 posts has been deleted.

Please let us know if you notice any issues with the new system, or if there are any features you would like to see.

Kaeno and The Vanishing Point are celebrating the 300 episode milestone with a massive 40 hour event featuring some of the hottest names in electronic music, including DJs like Markus Schulz, John O'Callaghan, Giuseppe Ottaviani, John Askew, Max Graham, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Neal Scarborough, Arnej, Mark Sherry, Sied van Riel, Leon Bolier, Paul Webster, and many more! Episode 300 will start on Sunday, September 25 at 6:00 PM Eastern / 3:00 PM Pacific / 00:00 CET (Mon) / 23:00 UK and continue for 40 straight hours.

Hi everyone,

On Friday May 6 we made some significant upgrades behind the scenes to our streaming system and infrastructure. One of the noteworthy feature improvements is that we are now capable of offering higher bitrate streams than the standard 160kbps that we have done for many years now. Previously we could not do this due to capacity and software issues, both of which were improved on Friday.

The reason for this post is to hear feedback from the community regarding 192kbps and higher streams and how we should offer them. The monthly costs of keeping Party107 on the air are very significant (several hundred USD/mo), and for years have been covered almost entirely by one individual. While people have graciously stepped in and offered us bandwidth for relay servers over the years which is a huge help, the monetary contributions to keep the main infrastructure running have not been at a sustainable level. To those who have donated in the past, we REALLY appreciate your contribution, however we need more people to help as well to keep things running smoothly.

We are considering making 192kbps and possibly 256kbps streams available in the very near future. In effort to improve the financial situation, we are considering making these streams available for people who are willing to contribute to the station. To be clear, this is not an attempt to profit from the station, but only to help cover costs so we can instead focus on bringing you the best programming we can and improving the station in other ways.
