Hey Guys. I'm Shawn, A DJ from Vancouver, Canada

I go by "Deezel" I consider myself to have started DJing in December 2003 when I first started collecting vinyl and bought a set of Gemini DJ turntables for $200 CND. Back in Grade 11 (2001-2002) I bought my first DJ mixer and experimented mixing mp3s off of my computer with 2 soundcards into the mixer and Traktor DJ Studio/PCDJ Red.

My first musical preference at the time was trance, since I was a newbie in the local "rave" scene. I built up a great collection of current trance records (mostly 2003-2005) and played at a few local rave parties. By late 2005 I started getting into house music and realized CDJs would be a good investment as vinyl was starting to really hurt my wallet and I realized I couldn't have all the tracks I wanted.

Since then I've become mostly a house/club DJ. My main music styles are hard anthem house, funky house, and club hits. Here in Vancouver almost all local clubs are totally focused on hip-hop and top40. I figure by spinning club remixed tracks heard on the radio I can expand my chance of getting a gig by playing more mainstream content.

As of 2009 I have now moved onto Serato and CDJs as it gives me the most freedom for music style and ease of mobility. I now run my own fully featured production company and own a complete inventory of pro gear including Passive speakers/subs and amp racks, intelligent lighting, haze, lasers aswell as staging. I am currently fully mobile throughout the Vancouver and generally take on various gigs such as private parties, hall parties, highschool dances aswell as raves and the odd club gig.

As of 2010 I play all styles of music from 70s-90s, hip-hop, top40, dance and electronic. Although my favourite genres are electro, progressive and mainstream club tracks.  I love to choose tracks with a lot of vocals.
