Tracklist:

1. Wildflowers
2. Ocean City

Suncatcher joins Enhanced after impressing during 2009 with several standout releases. With several remixes and originals in the pipeline for 2010 on Enhanced he kicks off his account with two superb uplifting trancers.

Heading the package is Wildflowers. Packed with soaring pads and blissful piano lines, backed up by a beastly bottom end this is a real crowd pleaser. With a huge breakdown, giving one of those classic hands in the air moments, this will no doubt be a stand out track for the young producer.

The flip see's Ocean City up the pace and intensity with its no holds barred approach and quite blistering main lead.

An incredibly strong double header from this young talent; and this is just the start of things to come; 2010 will be a great year for him.

Wildflowers is also included on the soon to be released Digitally Enhanced Vol. 3 which can be pre-ordered here:

Estiva & Temple One kick off the new decade in truly emphatic style with this massive collaboration from the two Enhanced stars.

Featured for the first time on Enhanced Sessions Vol. 1, mixed by the duo, the package now includes stunning mixes from both Temple One and Estiva.

The Estiva Mix showcases his fantastic talent in a style reminiscent to his stand out single 'I Feel Fine' from 2009. Temple One delivers a brilliantly blistering peak time mix; probably his best work to date. Also included is the wonderfully groovy Estiva's Enhanced Sessions Mix, as featured on the CD.

We're heavily tipping these two for a huge 2010, as are many of the trance fraternity, and this release surely outlines why they're two names on everybody's lips.

John Dopping kicks off 2010 for DS-R in fine style with this blistering peak timer.

A newcomer to the scene, John has featured in the DS Invitation Room at Digital Society, and now we welcome him onto the label after demonstrating a level of production standard beyond his years.

Remix duty falls to Digital Society favourite Activa and Dutch star Dazzle. Activa's well known for his late night sets at Digital Society and his remix is typical of the British trance don. The Activa Remix has already been picked up by Armin van Buuren on his A State Of Trance radio show.

Dazzle ups the groove whilst adding techy elements and reworks the main structure to great effect.

Record Label : Fraction Records
Cat# : FRA032
Format : MP3/WAV

3. Vast Vision Remix : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2fTtRr2hCM

5. Danny Loko Remix : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cczKzZXttfw

Fraction Records are returning after a small holiday break. The last couple of releases have been on the techier side of things with tracks from Mac & Taylor, Will Atkinson and Bryan Kearney & Liam Melly. Here we have a fresh trancer with a delicate name which is more in the same line as Intuition by Anhken & Adrian. "Mojito" is produced by Mark Hoogkamer & Daniel Garczyk better known as Sequentia. This would be their 2nd release on Fraction.

Review

The Original Mix of Mojito starts out a bit trippy with jumping high hats and a stabby synth. The kick is medium hard and when the bouncing bassline kicks in, you get a feel that this track is bit more funky and slightly techy then the usual offerings from Sequentia. While I'm listening, I'm not really sure what to expect from this track but a sense of relief, joy and excitement runs through my head as the main lead and the building pad line starts to appear. Somehow the name "Mojito" just seems to fit perfectly; the sweet melody and the lovely vocal effects underneath that gives the track a lovely chilled out "on the beach" feel. Moving on to the remixes, first up is the Sunny LAX Remix. You never know what to expect from Sunny but this time around it's an uplifting and banging remix from him. A rough bassline and big melodies are the keywords. The Vast Vision Remix starts out with an edgy electro guitar-like bassline. It has some rough and trancey percussion and some big pads which starts to emerge early in the track. It's safe to say that it's all about the breakdown in this remix. The melodic mixtures are excellent and it sounds like something that would go down well with the ASOT crowd. In this package you'll also find a Mint Mix which is an additonal mix that Sequentia did. A superb delicious prog mix which follows some of the ideas of the original mix but with a groovy bass and some exotic perc rhythms. Danny Loko (Danny Oliveira) sure has changed his style since he did Drop It, Your Love some years ago. Somoz Nozes has some excellent ideas and a more atmospheric, progressive and downtempo feel. The Danny Loko Remix follows the same principles as as that tune but without just reworking old ideas. The original has been completely stripped down though and it's hard to sense anything left from the original version.

Verdict
First, it's good with different styles in a release but it's even better when the productions are all working. That certainly is the case here. Interesting, well-produced top package here. My favourite is without a doubt the Mint Mix but I have to say it's probably cause of what I'm currently into stylewize. From a more objective point of view (if I can put it that way), the Original Mix and the Vast Vision Remix are the best picks. Vast Vision hits the spot view their breakdown and the Original Mix gets a thumbs up for creativity and top melody. I had maybe hoped for a bit more excitement in the Vast Vision version. It was like it was missing a final layer of elements to elevate it to very good to excellent. Overall delicious release from Fraction Records!

Above & Beyond & Ferry Corsten Radio Support!

Sindre Eide & Mark Andrez come together for the first time under their Eide & Andrez guise. As you would expect from the 18 year old Enhanced wonderkid, Eide, and Mark Andrez - a name who's definitely come to prominence in 09, this is crisp, intelligent trance.

Polls and Reviews / The Flyers & Mike Sonar - Land Of Hope [Smü[th]]
« on: December 29, 2009, 03:09:37 am »

The Flyers & Mike Sonar have started out pretty well with solid releases in 2009. Mike released a nothing short of brilliant release on Infrasonic Recordings, which saw support at the ASOT400 event. The Flyers have in collaboration with Mike released a 2-track single on Enhanced 6 months ago and they have one more EP coming up on the very same label soon. Now they've signed with Smü[th], and their track Land Of Hope comes with 3 remixes in different styles.

Original Mix
I might as well just cut to the chase; it's all about the melody in this track. The percussion is a bit standard but nonetheless sufficient given the arrangement and ideas they've aimed for. Nice groovy bass progression which sits right along with that melody, which is just lush. The main lead has just the right amount of delay and reverb and it plays nice along with the piano. My favourite thing is the progression of the 'backing' synth lead which reminds alot of the stuff being released on Silk Digital and the likes - this combined with the trancey lead just works so well!

Mike Hovsepian & Johnny Y Remix
A bit more drive with a rolling side-chained bassline, vocal hits and an overall darker 'coldharbour' feel. This is a remix that is nicely put together but it doesn't really 'blow up' which I had expected.

Liluca Remix
A bit of deep house which was quite surprising but also a very good pick given the style of the original. I'm a huge fan of the Liluca track Anjunadeep released in early 2009, so most definitely excited about this mix. It's a very atmospheric mix with a nice bass guitar working the background. Soothing and sweeping melodies with a good amount of warm reverb.

Vinayak^a Remix
Vinayak^a is a bit of an alternative and experimenting producer in my opinion. Nice work on the percussion and the various vocal, drum shots. While this mix is kinda fun and the breakdown being excellent, this wouldn't be the first thing for me to throw in a mix, so perhaps maybe too 'alternative' for my taste.

Verdict
The original is going straight into the CD folder and the Liluca is also perfect for the first tunes in a set of perhaps just to chill to.

Polls and Reviews / D:Folt & Paul Trainer - Empathizer [Infrasonic]
« on: December 29, 2009, 02:00:44 am »

Infrasonic Recordings are rounding release number 30 just before the end of the year. This track is by a new team, and that being D:Folt & Paul Trainer. I personally remember D:Folt from his 'I Come Running', which came with tyDi remix, which was the main room opener at Trance Energy in 2009. Paul Trainer is another producer on the rise, already with releases out on Armada (Captivating Sounds) and Vandit Digital. It does look like an exciting release judging by the remixers, whom would be: Joe Garrett aka Temple One, The Flyers & Mike Sonar and Daniel Kandi approved rising star Liguid Vision.

Original Mix
Other than the synth stabs, the percussion, this track has a very driving bass which is what I would remember it for. Another thing is the vocal, which has been chopped and possibly pitched somewhat. The chops almost forms some real sentences, or some form of humming; really clever put together in my opinion. I remember Will Holland playing this at the demo stage of the tune and thinking to myself "what is this" - I need an ID now! Glad it dropped into my mailbox finally cause this this a nice, banging and effective trance tune.

Temple One Remix
Mr. Joe Garrett trances things up in his version. A bit more of a "clicky" kick, a sharper and more flat clap and a percussion setup which progresses in fast manner (or so it feels). The vocal has been toned down quite a bit but hasn't been cut any further and therefore delivered in the same form. The main melody has a bit of Daniel Kandi vibe to it and it certainly does the job alongside the smooth and thick pads - delish!

The Flyers & Mike Sonar Remix
Not new to the 'Infra' stable and certainly a team of underrated producers. Great melodic and more progressive interpretation. The vocal is different than in the two above mixes and it sounds like it has been served in a more pure form here. It actually sounds like Marcie is the singer behind them, which would make sense since she's done alot with D:Folt. The melody has a bit of a dark, sad or perhaps melancholic twist which makes it more interesting than the usual 'happy feel' that composers/producers aim for.

Liquid Vision Remix
This sounds a bit like a re-shaped and polished version of the original. A bit more (great) melody but still the same electro'ish bass lead and the same vocal. The bass has been given a few twists here and there as an effect. The big reverbed stabs is too a very nice addition in the mix.

Verdict
Quality package from the Infrasonic boys and with this they round off '09 in style. As said, the original was one that had caught my attention before I even knew who was behind the track. It has a good drive + the distinct vocal. Temple One delivers a very short mix, which is a bit of a shame as I felt like he could have stretched it a bit more - all of his ideas are certainly great and it's still very much worth a listen and purchase. On the progressive front, we have the Flyers & Mike Sonar who just seem to get better and better by each track they put together. Great melodic aspects and kudos for using a different vocal to make it stand out.

Polls and Reviews / JPL - We're On The Moon [Moody Moon]
« on: December 28, 2009, 06:31:55 pm »

JPL and Moody Moon Recordings (Flashover) are putting a finish to the year 2009 with this release. Joni ‘JPL’ Ljungqvist has had an amazing year with top tracks such as Summer Skin, Lighthouses & Shorelines, Forgetting What You Were and a collaboration with Carl B named Orchid Blossom. Joni has been releasing quality trance music (and related edm) since 2005 and he just doesn’t seem to stop doing that.

We’re On The Moon
Despite the easy 128 beats per minute, this tracks spurs some good energy from bar 1; clever percussion, a white-noise-like riser and a melody that slowly arises. When the bass sets in, the mood has been set, and it really does smell like a good dancefloor destroyer in the same energetic style as “Lighthouses & Shorelines” but perhaps, with a bit more focus on the melody. The break consists of some radio-talk-babbling which is hard to interpret, but I guess this is one of the fundamental ideas in the track. Great rolling and uplifting melodies. This is a “down-beat” tune, but nonetheless, very energetic and might be great for adding some extra energy to a progressive dj set. This is without a doubt the finest release so far on the Moody Moon label. Top stuff from Joni once again!
