Yes, the much awaited double mix compilation from Temple One and Estiva is almost here! Behind every great label lies great artists, and for the last 4 years that's something that Enhanced have had in positive cornucopia of.

Having been responsible for a succession of major-league releases, both Temple One and Estiva are two of the very brightest stars in the label's galaxy. Now Enhanced Recordings are bringing this eminently talented twosome together, in the mix, for the first time. The occasion: the debut volume of their new series, 'Enhanced Sessions'!

'Enhanced Sessions Volume One' features many an exclusive track from both of the artists, alongside the cream of the forthcoming Enhanced crop, including Ferry Tayle & Static Blue's massive 'L'Acrobat' and Eide & Andrez 'Forget Me'. Also front-and-centre on their tracklists are Sequentia vs. Maarten van Bergen's rapacious 'Echoes of Sound', 'Things That Happen' by Will Holland and 'November Lovely', Temple One & Estiva's debut collaboration. Add to this some immense releases and forthcoming productions from the likes of Arnej, Tritonal, Breakfast and Jochen Miller and you've got a compilation compelling enough to bend light and catchy enough to make your teeth itch!

Polls and Reviews / Angel Ace - Everything's Gonna Be Fine [Digital Society]

Having caused quite a stir of late with some stand out releases on Flashover offshoot Levare, Angel Ace is the latest hot talent to join the DS-R camp.

Everythings Gonna Be Fine continues where his last releases left off - driving peak time trance. With three mixes from the man himself; the banging original mix, the more laid back Sunset mix and finally, under his Serenade guise he pushes the track even further.

A track that has caused some serious carnage on the dancefloors over the past months!

Polls and Reviews / DNS Project - Clear Shine [Monster Tunes]
« on: September 14, 2009, 09:29:45 am »

DNS Project is here with his 3rd single on Monster Tunes. He's had a great 2009 so far with DNS Project remixes for Lens Flare (which is his Armada project). Monster Tunes decided to leave his new single "untouched" as they put it, so therefore no remixes on this release.

"DNS Project - Clear Shine"

Review / Verdict
As with DNS Project's previous releases, this is quite energetic. Perhaps even more energetic and in-your-face than usual. Big reverbed claps, slamming kicks and use of glitch to make the track accelerate (fortunately he does not overuse the glitch thing, which can sometimes kill the energy). The melodies and chord progression isn't super unique but still somewhat catchy. Build-up wise this tune is alot like any Discover tune, the melodies are alot more "maximized" though so to speak, meaning that it fills out the track instead of dissapearing inbetween the percussion and bass. I also like how he's topped off the main lead with some light melodic touches, which just adds that little extra to the tune. Good comeback from DNS Project!

Polls and Reviews / Hodel - Last Wish [Perceptive]
« on: September 13, 2009, 12:20:18 pm »

Young Swedish producer Hodel is making quite a name for himself! He's already had releases with labels such as Enhanced, Conspiracy, Ask4 and now Perceptive. His style is all about uplifting trance and his is sound not far from fellow upcoming talents such as Sean Truby and Avenger. For those who forgot, Hodel delivered a remix collab for Perceptive back i April - which is very much recommended. This single, "Last Wish" comes with a set of remixes from prog producer Andy Tau and one from Anjunabeats favourite Adam Nickey.

Original Mix
This is one of those with a strict DJ intro, meaning that the first 60 seconds are more or less only to get the beats in time. After that it picks up the pace and start building up the melodies.  Not the biggest fan of piano in trance but the progression of the chords really sucks you in for those few short moments.

Adam Nickey Remix
Adam was slayed a bit when he recently released Callista / In Motion, which sounded very much like something Daniel Kandi would dish out. This remix also has a bit of Daniel Kandi inspiration in the background melodies, which still sounds quite nice. Again, the most interesting is the piano chords which stands out in the mix.

Andy Tau Remix
This is one heck of a remix from Andy Tau. I've been quite indifferent with his work as of late. I've found it a bit too bland, as something that just keeps on going without really getting to the point. This tune however, has got some really lush prog elements. The pads beautifully covers some of the edges in the track, the bassline sets a good happy mood and the lead keeps on flowing continuesly contributing to a pleasent atmosphere. The xylophone builds up to the peak creating just the right amount of tension and sets off the "bomb" which then slowly fades.

Verdict
My favourite is without a doubt the delisciously groovy upbeat progtrancer, the Andy Tau remix. Top stuff and perhaps his best work ever. I might be loosing my interest in uplifting trance - or perhaps I'm just taking a break from uplifting material without being conscious about it, but I'm not really that much into either the original mix nor the Nickey mix. My senses can definetely pick up on the lovely chord progressions, the sharp synths and the pulsing energy but I'm just not that impressed. My own taste/verdict aside, this feels a like a real crowdpleaser and I'm sure it will be well recieved.

Polls and Reviews / Anhken & Adrian - That One Moment [Eternity Recordings]
« on: September 08, 2009, 11:49:46 am »

A fresh release from Anhken is here! This young producer has been making a bit of a name for himself in just the last two years. Releases on major labels likes Anjunabeats, Enhanced Recordings, Monster Tunes and Infrasonic Recordings and these credentials certainly proves this producers potential and talent. This is now the second time he has got together with a fellow producer in the studio and this time it's with his countryman Adrian who also hails from Romania. Remixes comes from a very promissing Russian producer who goes by the name Arty and another lad by the name Jessus, who has worked out a "dirty mix".

Review:

Original Mix
Less minimalistic influences compared to some of Anhken's other recent work and much more uplifting. But again some very bright and warm progressive melodies. The bass is key and main tool in this mix and pushes everything forward until it slows down and reveals the piano themed break, only to then rise again and top in a semi techy drop.

Arty Remix
Arty took a more clean progressive trance approach in his remix. The underlying rumbling bass sets a good mood in the track and the crisp melody gentle upons up like a flourishing flower. What personally takes some of the beauty away from this mix is the piano which feels a tad too 'Above & Beyond'ish for me.

Jessus 'Dirty' Mix
Usually when something is called 'Dirty' it's not positive - at least not from my experience. This tune relies too much on the bass. The bass is actually ok but it's just has too much presence throughout the tune and it ends up getting too much. The main melodies are also not too strong as in the other two versions. The choir (or pads) in the break are quite nice though and some of the percussive ideas are alright as well.

Verdict:
It's a simply (and obvious maybe) a choice between the Arty remix and the original version which are both of good quality and not to forget that the original is above standard Anhken quality (in my book). Great comeback from Eternity Recordings who here and then spits something nice out!

Perpetual are Fredrik Lindblom and Henrik Collin who have been together and releasing quality trance since 2001. They debut on Enhanced with a singer that's no stranger to the label, Tiff Lacey with the slick 'Restless.'

If groovy melodic prog is your bag then this will surely find favour with you.

Remixes come from Enhanced stalwarts MoodFreak, Arty and newcomer Matt Holliday, ahead of his 'Your Touch' release later this year.

MoodFreak chops the vocal and layers it over his irresistible groove, whilst Arty creates a huge, big room lead and Matt Holliday shows us his quality with a well layered melodic rendition.

Polls and Reviews / Chus Liberata vs. Fred Baker - Explosion [Fraction]
« on: August 25, 2009, 01:51:21 pm »

1. Explosion (Original Mix)
2. Explosion (Paul Webster Remix)

Fraction Records says:
Chus Liberata teams up with Fred Baker for Fraction's quarter century release. As the title suggests, this one is an explosive slab of tech fuelled, balls out, big room trance!

The Original Mix contains all the ingredients of the perfect dance floor sledgehammer. Driving rhythms, pounding drums, tech stabs and a massive breakdown all pull together flawlessly, resulting in an absolute monster of a track!

On the remix, we have Fraction favorite, Paul Webster, who takes the tough groove from the original and twists out another sure fire crowd pleaser! Paul throws down a wicked tribal vibe with a super huge breakdown and thumping bassline. Not to be missed!
