Max Graham feat. Jessica Ridle - Gone
« on: October 19, 2004, 09:16:53 am »
Okayy... so... yeah, there's a big hype about this track. I don't get it. What does it have in it? Nothing. Nothing special at all. Vocals? Sorry, but they are bad. (she can't sing) Strings? Boring.  Breakdown? Stupid. (sorry, but it makes me feel sick, in the bad way, those filtered vocals...uh)  I can't see a single thing that should've caused the hype of this track... "OMG!!!111 TRACK OF TEH YEAR!!!11 ARMIN PLAYED IT ON ASOT!!" "OH YEAH, MARKUS SCHUlZ TOO @ GDJB!!1" What the hell? Sorry, but i don't know if a single person agrees with me, but come on... *takes another listen* i'm not saying this track totaly sucks, but i wouldn't give it more than 6/10, it's decent, not more. The point of this thread is to uh... see if anyone agrees with me. Or am I the only one?

ok. so here you go. comments.
yes.

I'll have to find a sample so I can agree or disagree with you, iv.

If you know of any samples, post em here.

OK, nevermind, I thought the name sounded familiar. It was the first song on ASOT 170...I edited that show for the playlist so I remember listening to that song alot.

The vocals are not nearly as annoying as "No One on Earth", but I'm not saying they are the best either. The music/beat isnt the best either, but its not horrible. It does get rather repetetive at times though.

I do not like tracks just because Armin or Markus play them, or because everyone else does. I DISPISE "No Where on Earth", and everyone is so raving about that song.

I love No One on Earth, but blah. :D
I see you aren't in the hype for "Gone", that makes me feel comfy (all those posts at tranceaddict...). I'm not saying the track is "horrible" or such, nah, it's quite nice, but sheesh, "tune of the year", whatever dude!
yes.

I guess this track just isn't for some people. I've always known Max Graham to be a high-quality producer and even higher-quality DJ... but this production blew me away. The emotion of this track is so immense.... OMG....

It goes down as my track of the year... if that's a problem for you... well, f*ck off.

This is a prog track, for prog tracks I'd probably have to say some of my favorites are:

Perry O'Neil - Wave Force/Arise
Nick Thompson - Spice Fire
Ridgewalkers feat El - Find (I know its been way overplayed, but when it wasnt)
Amiel - Lovesong

Now that I listen to it again, I do like it. I do remember though listening to it about 25 times the day I was editing ASOT that week it was played first. Thats probably why I don't share the same love :D

well, I heard it a few weeks before ASOT.

It's not actually a new tune, Max and Jessica recorded the vocals years ago, and Max has re-produced it over and over, without it ever being released.

This seems to be the one that will be released... or does he have an album on the way, cuz there seem to be a lot of productions by him coming out lately.

Hey Matt, welcome to the forums :D

No problem with me if you think this is the track of the year, this thread isn't ment to bash this song or anything like that, i just wanted to hear opinions about it, that's all.

And yeah... you're right about "this track just isn't for some people", it ain't for me.

Cheers

Don't know how about you guys, but I like this track :) I like it not for listening all the time, but sometimes, it's good to hear it playing in background while sitting and doing nothing..

This track owns me.  I think Sasha played it at Escape club when he was here in Minneapolis.  Also heard it on ASOT and some other recent livesets.  Great progressive tune.

hehe the track rules, simple as but the b side is much better,

anyway the strings arent original, they are leeched from an orchestral song

the vocals are tight but meaningless and the production quality isnt astounding, i love the track but i think it defo needed tightening up a bit more before release. This tune like so many others is gonna turn into the atrc of 2005 imo, overplayed and end up annoying me, but until it bugs me im gonna spin it hehe, its not an essential track though imo

Nick

I would like to know where they are from. All i could find was that in the sleeve of the ASOT2005 cd it says:

Contains a sample of "Gone" - Used by permission of Hollywood Records

I tried searching for it but couldn't find anything like that. Anyone who knows the full name of the song? Or can someone ask Max?
